Building Strong Families.
Growing Strong Communities.
Our Mission
Welcome to MatriArk! We serve as a refuge for single moms striving to elevate their families, helping to fill the gap between survival and lifelong success. We take the barriers preventing these households from thriving and the barriers preventing the ecosystems around us from thriving, mash all these problems together, and generate innovative solutions that benefit both people and the planet!

Service Area
We currently serve Texas families in Brazos and Burleson Counties, with a goal of creating model programs that can be replicated worldwide.
While we work to re-wild, re-green, capture fresh water, heal soils, and boost biodiversity, we are filling the gap between welfare and self-sufficiency, now and for generations to come.

MatriArk is partnering with donors, volunteers, local governments, places of worship, and other nonprofits to plan and install four Common Roots Food Forests in 2026. A CRFF is a space ranging from about six parking spaces to two acres intentionally designed to:
• produce a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts almost year-round once established;
• restore plant species and native wildlife once abundant in this region; and
• capture water, improve soil health, and create microclimates that help combat desertification.Filled with native and adapted perennial trees, shrubs, herbs, root crops, and vines, each CRFF creates a welcoming park-like space ideal for educational events, social gatherings, scientific research, and community connection.
For families: Offsets food costs, improves nutrition, increases knowledge of local and heritage plants/agroecology, and strengthens relationships and support networks.
For nature: Increases biodiversity, provides food and habitat for wildlife and pollinators, improves soil health, supports the water cycle, and enhances microclimates that reduce desertification.

MatriArk LOVES getting moms and kids outdoors! BaseCamp offers regular meetups where single moms and their kiddos can stretch their wings, breathe fresh air, learn new skills, and have fun while building friendships.
Activities range from park picnics and games to more adventurous experiences like archery, overnight camping trips, kayaking, and rock climbing. Whenever possible, MatriArk seeks sponsors to provide equipment so beginners can try something new in a judgment-free environment (where mansplaining doesn’t exist). The goal is to build confidence, resilience, fitness, and meaningful connections.

Literally designed to create “More of Mom,” Mommás is a competitive, multi-year program that requires focused short-term effort to achieve meaningful long-term outcomes.
As funding becomes available, select families enter an intensive partnership with MatriArk and its partners, creating both a financial safety net and a path toward personal and family goals. Families participate in financial literacy training, parenting classes, wellness education, and success coaching. They are also connected with financial advisors to build long-term wealth and financial stability.
As families reach milestones, they gain access to funds that can be used for emergencies or preserved as scholarships for their children. Most importantly, relationships are built—allowing the MatriArk community to create opportunities and support for every member of the family.

Restoring Ecosystems through Vocations in Agroecology for Mobility Pathways
REVAMP is a workforce development program designed to create upward mobility, especially in rural areas. Participants ages 16–24 who are children of single parents—or are parenting themselves—can earn income while furthering their education and learning ecosystem restoration and grassroots community-building skills.
Through hands-on projects that benefit their local communities, participants gain real-world experience. Completion of the program leads to certification and connections to living-wage careers.

Ah, the ultimate dream that started this entire journey… If you imagine something between Whoville and Hobbitown, you’re on the right track.
MatriArk Village will be a physical place that brings all these ideas together—and more. This intentional, kid-friendly community will help single-mom families support one another while modeling practical 21st-century sustainability practices any family can adopt.
The primary goals are to provide stability and well-being for children in single-mom households while equipping moms and teens for long-term financial independence through education, microenterprises, apprenticeships, and an on-site business center.
If you are a landowner or donor interested in supporting this project, let’s talk!
